JOINT MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS FROM THE CHAIRS
OUR MISSION
This year as Community Co-Chairs we hope to empower the women of the committee to step up and strengthen their leadership and execution skills through ownership of the planning and implementation process of Junior League events.
OUR VISION
We want to revive and breathe life back into the Mission of the Junior League and to remind ourselves why we are here – to develop civic leaders in our community.
Along the way, we will have fun, learn from each other, and thrive. It starts with us.

The Junior League of Moore County participates in multiple community activities throughout the year. The list below is a brief description of each of these events with more details to come.
KIDS IN THE KITCHEN
What can we do together in the fight against childhood obesity? Let’s start by involving kids and their parents in a hands-on environment that actually focuses on preparing healthy foods. The goal of the Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. and its member Leagues, is to promote child health and wellness by empowering children and youth to make healthy lifestyle choices, therefore preventing obesity and its associated health risks. ACADEMY FOR SUCCESS
The Academy for Success is a workshop-based curriculum tailored to meet the needs of young women participating in the program. The program consists of two modules - Life Skills and Life Enrichment. The goal of Academy for Success is to encourage young women to take control of their future by teaching life skills, enhancing self-esteem, providing direction for opportunities and inspiring them to grow creatively.
Workshops are conducted by community members who are specialists in their area of presentation, including many Junior League members. The Junior League of Moore County has established partnerships with many organizations in our area to utilize their expertise and support the program.
FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL & EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
Sadly, food insecurity remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. 1 in 3 of the people served by the Food Bank’s network are children. The Sandhills Backpack Pals program provides healthy weekend meals during the school year to children living in food insecure homes. JLMC has dedicated volunteers throughout the year to packing meals to improve access to nutritious food for the 1,100 children facing food insecurity in Moore County.
FOSTER CARE
Thousands of children in North Carolina enter the foster care system each year, and range in age from infants to 18 years old. Unfortunately these children have been removed from their homes due to challenging living situations such as abuse, illness, alcohol or drug addiction, or homelessness. JLMC has partnered with the Department of Social Services to support the children who are currently in the foster care system. While we don't have the opportunity to spend much one-on-one time with the children, the heart of our work is focused on supporting the dedicated foster care social workers who tirelessly advocate for these children during a very difficult time.
